Mrinalini Kochupillai joins Hanken as new professor of commercial law

PhD Mrinalini Kochupillai has been appointed professor of sustainability and business law at the Department of Accounting and Commercial Law at Hanken School of Economics. Kochupillai has won the European Research Council’s (ERC) starting grant for her research on incentivising in situ agrobiodiversity conservation using features of blockchain technology.

When Patrick Lapveteläinen began his studies in finance and investments at Hanken School of Economics in 1986, Finland was undergoing a period of major transformation. Capital markets were opening up, interest rates were deregulated and the financial sector was being entirely reshaped.

Record number of applicants to Hanken's Bachelor's and Doctoral programmes

Hanken School of Economics has seen a significant rise in applications to its English-taught Bachelor in Business programme, clearly surpassing last year’s figures. This year, the programme attracted 1,237 applicants (2025: 1,020).
